LT77 gearboxes - ratio differences?

Through some recent research I've learned that the LT77 series gearbox (2wd) was available with a variety of gear ratios, which apparently can be denoted by the serial number on the side? Could anyone educate me a bit more accurately to the differences and what sort of car had the shortest overall gearing?

Although the intermediate gears might be different (ones fitted to Range rovers and Sherpas would probably have very short first gears for pulling away, for example), 4th will always be 1:1, and 5th somewhere between .75:1 and .8:1. If you want to fiddle with the overall gearing it needs to be done at the diff.
