So an advisory for my MOT was that the power steering pump on my 1997 rover 200 was slightly perished and needed replacing. Flicking through a couple of books, I have learned that there was a switch over time where automatic tensioners were used rather than manual ones. Does anyone here know when that was?
I am 200 miles away at the moment so I can't check but I need to drive for 3 hours the day after I get some so I would like to replace it before then.
Cheers,
Bob

Cannot specifically answer your query but, this is what the automatic one on my wife's MGZS ( 1.8 Rover K-Series ) looks like when I renewed the Water Pump on the car. It has a similar K-Series engine. It's the Black Pulley to the left of the Socket Drive.partially dismantled and swung out of the way to access the engine and water pump which is behind the tensioner normally. HTH :~

Thanks John, I will take a look when I get home and get that belt replaced. I have to say, I don't want it snapping on the way up there.
