I have a nice new timing belt which I will fit to the Rover 45 ( 1.4 ) I'm currently working on. Having changed K-Series Timing Belts on an MG ZS 1.8, two Rover 25 1.4s and a VVC 200vi, I was surprised to discover that the Rover 45 uses a completely different Timing Side engine mount arrangement to any of those Rovers I've worked on previously.

On this car the engine mount is far more complex with far more bolts and brackets than those other K-Series engines I've worked on. Just look at these pictures :~

So, anyone reading this who has worked on a similar Rover 45, what is the best technique to deal with this? Rather than undo all those various bolts, I have not yet worked out the minimum number of bolts needing to be removed to slip on the new Timing Belt. By the time I was ready to do so, it was almost dark and difficult to see even with a torch.

I'll do a search for a diagram later but, meantime, if anyone has the answer I'll appreciate hearing from them.

By the way, the reason the cylinder head needed removal was this. Displaced Elastomer bands... :~

Fortunately, the liners appear spot on as the previous owner sensibly did not drive on after those first signs of coolant losses ...
