Hello,

The front electruc window keeps sliding out of place which I believe is due to the rubber.. does anyone know where to source a replacement at a reasonable cost?

Thanks.

yikes

Sometimes if you ring them the price is a lot lower, might be worth a try.

Or you could put a wanted up on www.rovertech.net someone will be striping a 600 and would probably send it to you for free.

Turns out it may not be the rubber at all but the regulator.. apart from Rimmer.. can anyone recommend anywhere else to get the regulator?

Cheers.

Chances are the metal arms of the "scissors" lifting mechanism have become bent. They can be straightened and all should be well provided the side channels are not damaged by the glass twisting in them and cutting the rubber guides... Silicon spray also helps the smooth operation of the glass.

The electric motors in these windows are very powerful and never fail. When the side channels get gummed up so that the glass jams in them, the impatient driver may continue to press the switch and that's when the power of the motor twists the metal arms. In a bad case they can be very twisted and even snap off the little wheels which run in the lift channels below the glass.

Over the years, we've had a few Rover 620ti in the family and some in previous ownership have had window lift problems, usually in the driver's door which gets most use ... and abuse.

To access the window lift mechansism the door card needs to come off. That will expose the 'scissors' mechanism.

Here's a really bad example ~ and I mean really bad. The previous owner must have been very impatient ...smile...:~

Visit your local breaker yard and remove one from a scrap car ~ if the metal arms are reasonably straight and the wheels intact, chances are its usable. Twenty five quid tops. Our local yards offer money back if it does not work. Removing one from a scrap car will also teach you 'how to' rather than learn on your own car if you've not done the job before.

I have a Driver's Door perfect lift mechanism from a car I recently stripped for useful parts. The car had been in the family for over five years and provided parts for other cars in the family as well as the gearbox doing good work now on a Rover in Spain and the remote fobs and their ECU for another Rover owner ... If you cannot get fixed up locally, get in touch.
