What do you think of the Rover 75 diesel

Personally i'd say they are very very under-rated cars... but then I do own the MG version so perhaps i'm a little biased.
Only issues I can think of is the clutch and thermostat - the clutch lasts about 120k ish depending on use, but is around £600-£700 to replace (more if it needs a new DMF). The thermostat can also go out of spec fairly easily, which will harm your MPG, but annoyingly the temperature gauge is useless (it reports level from around 70° C to 100° C) so many owners never realise and waste lots of money on fuel...
Maintenance wise, over and above the usual service stuff, you might want to have a look at your PCV filter - on the 320d the engine is from BMW recommend it's replaced every 30k, but Rover never put it in the service checklist so it rarely gets done - only about £18 and an hour to change, and will clear up a lot of the black smoke you might have. Also, you might want to change the intercooler o-rings, the OEM ones stretch a bit, breaking the seals which means you can lose a bit of boost - you can get the Viton O-Rings for about a fiver and again only about an hour to fit at most.
Then you can start looking a bit further at things like an EGR Bypass, Air intake mod and a Synergy if you want a little more performance...
All this info is on the owners clubs I linked to above.
