Hi there,

I am thinking for my next project to do a V8, RWD Rover Coupe. Has anyone tried or know someone who has tried to convert a Coupe to RWD.

I am sure if it is going to be too technical and long winded. Any Advice!

Do i do it or walk away?

I think MGRover did that when they converted the 75 from fwd to rwd for the v8, loads of work I should imagine. Plus the engine would sureley have to be fore and aft and preferably behind the front axle line. There isn't a lot of room under the bonnet so you're looking at moving the front bulkhead backwards, cutting a large chunk out of the floor for the gearbox, transmission tunnel and dif which would all encroach on the ammount of room in the car, especially in the front. You'd have to source engine, gearbox and transaxle plus suspension and also sort out the mounting points for the latter, probably more cutting.......not a lot really. I suppose you could do it on the hotrod principle, build up a chassis etc and mount the bare shell, minus quite a lot of it, but then you would have a hot rod. By the time you finish you could have bought an M3 and have been driving it for a fairly long time. I wouldn't just walk away from it, I'd run.

ps sorry to be negative, if you do go ahead with it, good luck.
