my mrs has a rover 216 p.reg.she hasnt used the car for some time so the batt went flat.i put a new batt on but it wont even turn over.its making a beep beep noise.i think it has something to do with the the factory fitted alarm n immobilizer,the master key is an old type key (not a fob type).CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE..

Probably a simple fix if all that happened was the battery went flat. Post a similar query over on Rovertech.net. Plenty of folks there been there done that.

Indeed it is the immobilisier - there'll probably be a red light on solidly on the dash too? When you've got the key at the second position and it's beeping, try pressing the unlock button and it should stop beeping and turn over.

Otherwise you'll need to dig out the card with the 4 digit immobiliser code for the door (or get the code from the stealership) but that's a bit more complicated. I think the first option should sort it though.

thanks for the replies.found out the car orignally came with a separate fob,witch we never got when she bought it.got a very nice man who used to work for rover to come round to my house n program a new fob to the car.cost £90 but happy days she can drive again,far far away.thanks again.
