Rover 400 Alarm

Hi All,

The alarm on my daily driver is playing up.

The car is a 99 T-Plate Rover 416. When I lock the car using the central locking fob the red light on the dash flashes repeatedly for about 5 seconds then flash at about 3 second intervals. I can't remember it ever doing this. Occasionally the alarm sounds when parked on the drive so I've resorted to locking the car with the fob then opening it then locking it from the inside (i.e. locking the drivers door then closing the passenger door. This seems to stop the red light on the dash from flashing.

Is there a fault with the alarm?

Anyway it can just be disabled or is there a quick and easy fix?

No, you can't disable the alarm easily but the usual fault with them is either the door courtesy light switches, the bonnet switch or boot mercury switch
You can disconnect the bonnet and boot switches to eliminate them and to check the door switches, remove and clean/inspect them.
