evening all,

Im very close to buying the above car, it looks very good spec and condition wise, its got 95k on the clock.

Has any one owned one of these? anyone know any big things to look for before i part with my hard earned? Ive heard the 1.8 may be a bit sluggish, do you find this bothering day to day?

Many thanks

oh i forgot one thing...

When i asked about the possible difficulty of getting parts what with Rover being no more, the dealer said that as they were owned by BMW at the time when the car was built that some parts actually are BM parts? and that the 2L TDI engines are actual BM engines. was he fibbing?

Cheers

The diesel engine in the 75 is indeed a BMW engine. It is a flyer. Common rail, so don't be tempted to put supermarket veggie oil in it.
With regard to all the other Rover cars, almost all the service spares (and some of the other bits) are made by companies which carried on in production after Rover folded. If you go to the MG-Rover forum, you should find good sources of parts.

PS the only reservation I have regarding the 75 is that all the leather seats lacked that nice "soft-feel" found in a lot of other cars, eg Volvo, BM etc. I was for a few months roller testing the 75s and found them quite firm to sit on. Other than that, build quality far in excess of that of the old Marinas, 11/1300s, ADO 38s etc
