Buy a 120(1.8) ZR.

Without spending big money (e.g. PTP140 kit @ several K) all you'll get is more noise. I believe you will loose power with an open cone filter because of heat soak.

In our old ZR we had it on the rolling road at 117bhp and a modest increase in torque, simply with a complete replacement exhaust and panel filter

Not bad, but did you do a baseline run or did you compare the torque increase to the manufacturer's claim for that car?

True - the air filter must be in a cold air area, preferably relocated using some stainless tube etc. De-cat works well on the 1.4 too (I did it on mine so I do know!)
