Rover 800 - alarm & immobiliser failure

Evening,
I have a 800 Coupe (the 2.0) 67000 miles and a very good runner, with everything on the car functioning (or so I thought)
Recently the battery went flat, not a big deal I jumped the car to restart and off I went. Since then the battery has flattened a few times, culminating in the alarm and immobiliser refusing to re set
on the key ?
The result is the car cannot be driven, I have drained the battery and then restarted, no effect the alarm is still armed. I have re started it with the key in the ignition and locked / relocked from outside, nothing doing, in short I have tried most things I can think of
Anyone have any ideas, I want my car back its too good to junk. I'd settle for driving it with NO alarm or immob if necessary ? anyone know how I could track down the master alarm code ?

Probably me not reading this correctly, but not 100% clear what the actual problem is. If you can start it, the immobilizer is obviously clearing. I presume it is a later coupe as it is a 2 litre, (ie not an ealier export 2 litre which i think they did), so assuming it has the later factory immobiliser/alarm.
If you are after the code (and presumably don't have the card that was originally supplied with the 4 figure code, one of the ex Rover dealers might still be able to provide code from their systems if you can provide proof of chassis no. / ownership.
However, to the best of my knowledge that code will only bypass the immobiliser, not the alarm, although the key should clear that.
Are you happy that the system is actually charging the system, or that the main battery doesn't need replacing as not holding charge, u/s batteries often seem to mess up alarm systems.
There are some posts on one of the austin or MG rover forums about 800 immobilsers, i don't have a link at this time but may be worth spending a few minutes searching. These alarm systems are fairly effective but do cause a few problems. If teh car is otherwise in good condition, would tend to agree not worth 'getting rid of' for such a problem, if teh above dosen't give any pointers, have you considered getting an auto alarm electrician to have alook. If it is an alarm fault, might be able to bypass or replace (although if bypass remember to advise ins. co.)
I have had a later vitesse for many (too many) years and have had a few problems with the handsets over the years, but not as you describe.
