Has anybody here experienced the following fault which i have with a 1996 vitesse heater blower. There is power to the motor when ignition on,(dash switch in off position) also power to the relay fitted on the motor casing, power through the 30 amp fuse[handbook says heater blower] and also the 10 amp fuse in the larger fuse box which the handbook says is for heater. However, there is no power to the switch. My Haynes manual covers models up to end of 1995, although i can't imagine they changed much for the heater system for the 1996 model year, and shows a circuit breaker. Does anybody know whether there is a breaker somewhere, as i can't see anything!

The actual fan will spin freely when 'flicked' by hand.

Having had this car as a daily hack for over 8 years, I am aware that the older models used to burn out the heater switch (my old 827 did that), but this doesn't seem to be the same fault.

Would be grateful for any experience that anybody on this forum might have - thanks

is this the same problem that affects the 200's and 400's?
the heater matrix has 3 resistors on that burn out, on the 200 its under the glove box, remove it, take out the heater matrix and you'll see 3 wire coils, they burn out and the fan stops working.

Google for rover 200 heater blower not working.

resistors are available from maplin etc or some sellers on ebay for a few quid.

I have a pdf for 200's / 400's that show you what to do etc if you need it (d/l via a google search)

Thanks, just read the relevant thread. I'll have another look although i don't recall seeing anything like a resistor pack, unless they've hidden it well!

it is hidden well on the 200's you have to take the glove box out, and then remove 3 or 4 screws and pull the whole thing out.
