420 turbo question
Discussion
Can anyone tell me what pistons should be in the engine as standard? I have just taken the head off the engine due to h/gasket failure to find a composite gskt (should MLS AFAIR) and valve cut outs in the pistons. Although i have a number of head gskt jobs on this type of engine (usually in 800's though) i don't recall seeing the valve cut outs????? The pistons are made by Mahl part no. 817***3, they also appear to be in the wrong way round, the front marking appears to be facing the back? Could they be retro fitted or am i making a fuss about nothing?
Sound like the right pistons to me. I know they definat;ly use mahle pistons
My old t series nasp had valve cut outs on the piston crowns. Not sure about the turbo, but i'd guess they do to. Obviously the turbo has lower comp pistons though. (So i hope somone hasnt put nasp pistons in your turbo)
