Hi,

Im currently thinking of buying a Rover Coupe again, I previously owned a 220 (2.0i) which I really loved driving, performance was great but ive seen a newer example I like but of course it has the 1.8VVC engine. Anyone know what the difference is with regard to performance and reliability?? (Performance especially as Im just coming back from TVR land).

Thanks!

The performance of the VVC is considered better than the 2.0. The 2.0 feels torquier, but the VVC is more powerful and lighter, probably not considered as reliable due to being a K series and having the old weak head gasket issue, also the VVCs tend to need the mechanism replacing between 80k and 90k, but they will be newer, have the newer interior and are tuneable...

If you want more information, or better insight, go to the Rover Coupe Owners' Club website (www.rover-coupe.co.uk) and introduce yourself on the forums

Just remember - BHP sells cars to punters, torque wins races...
