Morning All,

Just a quick question to settle my curiosity..... Girlfriends Dad has a diesel engined ZT-T (Estate) and we're currently looking at moving house which means I will have do approx 50 miles a day commuting again. I think the solution will be a cheap diesel (My Mk3 Golf is now on 143k and hasn't turned a wheel in 2 and 1/2 months!)

I love the looks of the ZT (but not as keen on the interior) but the new house is permit parking only so I may be better off getting something slightly smaller hence the thought of a ZS. There seems to be plenty about around the £5k mark which would probably be my budget - Going to keep the Golf (as long as it passes the MOT) as long as it lasts but I think I need to be factoring in a replacement car in the next 12-18 months

So the question is does the ZS come with a diesel engine or would I better off looking at a ZT?

Phill

Yes, you can, but its not the BMW diesel from the ZT, it's the Rover/Perkins unit.

Think that not many zs diesels were made. And zt diesel would probably not far of the second hand price, with bmw engine (that can be bmw chipped to at least 150 bhp). Conclusion: would look for a zt diesel myself, or zs on lpg.....

A bit late but....

Yes the ZS came with a diesel. I've got one. Done about 60,000 miles in it with no complaints. They are rare though, I knew exactly what I wanted so ended up a couple of hunderd miles away to get it, I could only find 3 on the market when I was looking 2 years ago -Funnily enough, it replaced a 1.8 Mk3 golf -I bet you'd be surprised what the golf is worth as a trade in!

Any questions PM me.
