Using a Facet pump on a carb SD1.

Can anyone tell me what’s involved in using a Facet pump to feed a twin SU setup in an SD1? The real question is can the Facet pump suck through the original pump or with the original need removing? I’m asking cos the pump has failed on the SD1 I’ve just got and looking like it could put a fight when I try and remove the pump from the tank, if the pump doesn’t need removing I’ll save myself the hassle!
