your best bet is to buy the servicing kit, you can get them off e-bay for quite a good price, at least then you know everything has been done and it will only cost you £50 ish, keep the receipt and when you come to sell it explain you did your own servicings, most people are happy with that these days

Really? I've never heard of them and the website looks highly amateurish

Yup! Website is amateurish but his knowlegde of all things Rover (new and old) is first rate. And you wont be paying top dollar for a swanky show room, top-grade coffee or subsidising a swanky website - Reg is just a good example of an honest tradesman who knows what's what with cars. Here's an example: 2 months ago, my ZT was mis-firing on one cylinder. Ex-Rover main dealer still servicing cars said (when I took it to them, because the car was playing up when with my girlfriend in South of England): "We have done a compression test and you're down on compression on two cylinders - looks terminal. We will have to strip the engine (which will itself cost £600) and replace and repair what ever has gone bang - and we dont know how much it will cost but count on north of a grand".
Now to do a full wet and dry compression test you have to partially take the engine apart - all they had done (when I pointed this out) was stuck it on the diagnostics. All very iffy. So I ring Reg, RAC take the car to Brummagem and Reg looks at the car, diagnoses the problem .... replaces a coil pack. Voila! Fraction of the cost quoted by ex-dealer.
1,000 miles later, car now smoother than ever.
Oh, and he supports the Villa!
Seriously, credit where credit's due: he's a good tradesman.
