I am told by R Giel that size ranges used should be between 195 x 65 x 15 and 235 x 70 x 15
Has anyone used 60 profile and if so how did they feel? Or what about any sizes and views?
Am buying a Coupe this saturday and it has crpssplys on which I fancy changing before the long haul home up the m'ways from London sowant to order some in readiness for fitting down there.

205x70x15 are a good size for a standard P5B. stiffens the steering up a bit, and they look great.
If you struggle to find a set a may have a set of 4 red lines for sale in the near future.
Anything with a lower profile tends to look a bit odd i think.

Ian, many thanks for the reply. Hope to pick car up saturday lunch in Chiswick and drive home in time for dinner. Hence new boots required that end so can order on black circles via here and get discount. Am really tempted to get 205 or 215 x 65..... you think would they look too weird?

Doh! I cant go for lower than 70 profile or I upset the height and speedo, I am told.
If I got bigger wheels, say 16 inch, say even alloys - tastefully done, mind - would I be able to go for lower profile tyres, say 60 or 65, without upsetting the maths and the speedo? Would the ride still be comfy and not too firm?

Vera is beyond realistic redemption, even in the eyes of P6 buffs. So she is to be dismembered and allocated out aside from her heart; which comes to me for use as a tuned 3.9 at some future point and will be put into BlueyII, the P5B I hope to buy on saturday. Bluey remains part of the family and I am ashamed to have put him up for sale twice since purchase; but pleased that I removed him from the window just in time. Had one firm offer from Belgium but I hesitated as I knew I didnt want tos ell; then another more local but I reckon the guy was playing with the idea, more into "the wife will divorce me!" than my own "If we split, I'll take the car, Dear..."

I'm running 16's with 225x60x16 tyres, not sure how accurate the speedo is as it keeps breaking the cable but the profile looks very similar.
I think these cars look great on wide tyres, but I don't think low profile tyres suit old cars, especially P5's
I have a mate running 235x15's and they look great, but do rub slightly.
I would still go for 205x70x15 as a first choice, just wide enough.

Well, up at 5.30, got trains to Chiswick and returned just before 22.00hrs. Few probs -no kickdown; shock horror moments on m'way when I put left foot on what I thought was foot rest and the road went black..... where's the F'Kin hazard lights??!!! Rusty hole under left wing needs plating due to the water-catchment issue; rear left door rusty; boot wet & water ingress both corners of windscreen and rear screen; not a well cared for car YET all the records suggest it is a genuine 87900 miles, repaired as she goes rather than restored.... biggest ish was cracks to ALL cross plys, so had to get what I could at 3.30 on a saturday afternoon. Kwik Fit in Hammersmith had 4 Bridgestone H/T Dueler 205/70x15 - meant for 4x4s apparently: Yuk! But at that time could not ring round for alternatives so bought them for £350 fitted etc. While fitting them, noted a few other probs like leaf springs not attached to bushes....
So I have a Coupe, in ubiquitous zircon and silver birch; with nice seats and a couple of couple of grand's worth of work needed to make it right.

The kickdown on these cars is very stiff, are you sure you are stamping hard enough?
A good interior is the hardest bit to find, the bodywork can be fixed, most of the panels are available. Whats the rear bumper like?
I'm in sunny Worthing, if you fancy a meet half way sometime, I'd love to have a look.

Joined the Club to learn Ian and the lads will take the mick for my not having learned enough when they see this ol boat Rear bumper? - Well, if we take all chrome, inc lights and both bumpers, there's nout wrong that another £1000 wont cure. Then there's the welding to the chassis and a couple of doors; all door & window seals. Plus engine oil leaks; Oh and it must've burned off a litre of oil on the way home. And new brake discs which laughably were added into the "advisory" section when Mot'd in March, less than 200 miles done since then by prev owner.... Lots to do. I reckon £3000 to make right
Off to garage tomorow just to get booked in for stuff to make the Mot worth the paper it is written on.
Put the Vintage & Clasic Club meeting in your diary for Next September 16th; Turweston Airfield, just up the road from Silverstone. It is the RP6 National Rally gathering but some other models came this year and I reckon next year will be an even bigger gathering. Cars, bikes and planes of every marque. Love to hear that engine of yours.

Make sure you put the SARR (Scottish All Rover Rally) in your diary for May bank holiday - we have travelled up for the past 3 years - some stunning cars up there and a wealth of knowledge. Last year's was at Dunfermline but previous 2 at Scone racecourse - a better venue IMHO. We usually do the Sarurday run, dinner and Sunday rally.
Sounds like you have a lot of work to do. I wish I'd known you were looking as I was offered a couple of cars in the last month or so that were quite reasonable although you would have been gobsmacked by the 2 that were for sale at the Classic car show for £13 & £16K!
Don't go mad on the rechroming BTW - for example, the rear lights are cheap metal, Mazak, and do not last when re-chromed - There are some remanufactured parts available at reasonable price in better quality material.
Does the speedo wave at all?

You may only find passing refs to the SARRs rally in Take Five as it's not a P5 Club bash although there is a lot of crossover as you can imagine.
Just had a look at the website : www.sarr.co.uk/ and it looks like we're going back to the bus museum 26 and 27th May . Not as good and perhaps I may book a meal out instead of the evening buffet.
I can recommend a wacky B&B in the midlle of nowehere though
