I know very little about this car however my godfather has one in his garage and it has sat there for 23yrs.
1. Is it worth anything ?
2. Anybody want it !

IS - looked at your profile and dont see an email link. They are worth about 10% - 20% more than the later p6 V8 in good nick - correct me anyone if I am wrong here - and are a lovely old motor. I aint had one myself .... yet . Erm, "Yes dear, Coming!" What condition is the car in? Check out the P5Club and speak to some people there. What part of the world is the car at? Any pics?

I shall try and get some pics for you the car is in essex and in fair condition (except its not moved for 10yrs) finished in royal blue with full leather once described as a poor mans rolls royce.
I'v just found the last mot reg SGJ 996L Recorded mileage 5602?

P5s are worth more than P6s but sadly neither of them are worth much. You can pick up a very clean P5B for £3k. One that's been standing for 10 years is obviously going to be worth much less.

The ones that have had 'massive expenditure', yes. But there are cars in that list which sound like reasonable, running, viable vehicles and they're barely over £2k. So what's the value of a car that's been standing in a garage for a decade?

PPS I am looking for a nice P5B for under 3k which has full MOT, pre 1973 historic vehicle tax exemption and preferably in admiralty blue with silver birch roof, cream/beige coloured interior, few previous owners, lots of history and would suit the name Lester cos that's the name of the man whose P5B I used to clean each week when I was a kid.

Jim, I am a Liverpool expat now exiled to Leicestershire and I own a Chim and a Rover P5B !
Let me know if I can be of help in sourcing/advising on the purchase when you are ready!

By the way the colour combo you mention is the most common, sorry, popular so there should be plenty around (relatively speaking of course). £3K should buy you a reasonable one needing work ranging up to a max of around £15K for a concourse. Be careful thoughas certain parts are expensive. Rear Bumpers ara available as new pressings but are £800.00+ so even second hand ones needing rechroming can cost £300+.

Nice to see your Missus said KEEP an old Rover V8 Mine rang me yeterday to say Vera was off on the lowloader to Chester and I said get a photo and she just kept saying "Bye Bye, Vera!!" on the phone. Sick. No heart, sometimes. I believe HM The Queen has TWO P5Bs..... if anyone - as in Any One - is reading this, below or above stairs ... Hi, there! Impecunious hero, here! If Ma'am fancies donating to a good cause, do let me know

May well contact you if any motors appear in your enighbourhood for a blimp and opinion, if that's ok with you. I've got a great contact in RP6DC, the sec Steve Benyon, who is looking at Vera for me with the body man today. He tells me of a pre 73 B which is burgundy; mot'd and used regularly; some surface rust but no structural issues; and the owner may well sell next year - when I will know how much I can afford a bit better - "at a snip", he says, for the £1K mark. So I need to get Vera's basic mot achieved meanwhile I have decided. It is a question of honour, really. Then run her for a while especially later in the year when the Griff can take a rest. Then who knows?

I find it starnge that Classic mags only show A1 condition P5B values as around the £5K mark.

You going to the Rally at Turweston on Sept 17th, Alan? I'm taking Bluey ... unless a miracle can be achieved with Aunty Ve meantime ....

Thank you for your kind comments about "Benson". He's a good reliable old man servant but has his momemnts!
Take heart young man. V8 Vera will be back before you know it and much improved.
Our monrch does indeed own 2 P5's - Both Saloons. One was (and I think still is) at the Heritage museum in Gaydon and the other, I believe at Sandringham. I have it on good authority that HM regularly used the P5's to drive aherself around the estate and was her favourite car. Very discerning woman is queenie!

If you can get a structurally sound car with a good interior for a grand then you'll be doing well. Problem is that thes cars have lots of "pretty parts" that need to be in good condition for them to look their best so you can end up spending a small fortune (in money or time) in getting all of the chromes up to standard, fettling the interior woodwork etc and somethimes its just not worth saving the initial outlay of a couple of grand beacuse these days that amount of money goes nowhere if you have to pay craftsmen to work on the car.

Classic mags do value these cars below their true market value. The reality is that the owners of the best ones tend to hang onto them for a long time. Consequently lots of "good condition" ones do change hands but the best tend to stay within a very small circle of those that know.

Turweston? What, where, who, when? Not one I was aware of but will have a sniff.

As I only bought the Chim in April I have spent much more time with it than the P5 this year. Maybe that would be a good little outing for the P5

It is just off A43, between Brackley & Silverstone. We're stopping over nearby to make a full day of it. Hope the weather's nice.

The P5 club site is superb; and even better when compared with the RP6DC site, which is not lost on the P6 folk; they're looking to egt someone webwise to make it a bit more user friendly and interseting. But I guess if it were a Ferrari site, it already would be. Sadly, at the moment, not a lot of people realise what a good car the P6 STILL is today, if looked after and used regularly.

17th September for Turweston I see & not too far away.

If I can get the old boy MOT'd (Due on 20th August - only a week away ) then I'll probably make it.

Great P5B I sat in last night. Like a living room on wheels. Gorgeous!
Am off to see Aunty Ve again tomorrow and will get better idea of weld costs. Then may well give your man a bell re parts required for bodywork once items are confirmed.
