I would have thought going from the SD1 Club news we get there are lots there in the UK. We have around 40 in the club here in Melbourne. I have a 1985 SEII manual, slightly hotted up.

i have an SD1, well sort of. it looks like an vitesse, but runs a 5.8litre chevy with a ford T5 gear box and various other mods to suspension and brakes.

One over here!

'85 Vitesse (SP), all original - pics to follow.

BTW, I stumbled on pictures of a Merlin-into-SD1 conversion, but cannot find it again - anyone else seen this?

Ah a car in the Mr Clothier vein of anything other than an RV8 will upset the handling then

SD1 2300S 1981 here (LHD - Dutch car), owning it now for nearly 12 years. Originally bought (like getting it nearly for free cannot be considered buying perhaps) to put a V8 in, but when meeting up with the SD1 friends club in Holland was convinced to keep it original (not many around of the 1.5 series.... Not many around at all when I come to think of that!).
In the end putting a V8 in is more expensive then just buying a 3500. Instead of buying a SD1 V8, bought a TVR 350i wedge (LHD - Dutch car) with the lovely V8 in it.

Is this becoming a 'coming-out' forum? Rover being the pipe and slippers type of brand. At least my age is now catching up on me so I am allowed to be seen in one. Shame the brand is gone (for the moment), but still running a 75 as a daily driver. Although it didn't keep the company afloat.

One of the writers in Practical Performance Car magazine is putting a Meteor 27 litre tank engine into an SD1 (similar to a Merlin I understand)

Sadly I'm not any more but maybe one day. Sold the fantastic E-reg Twin Plenum I'd had for 11 years to fund my first Cerbera and still miss it like mad. Now if only Cerberas didn't cost so much to run.....

Maybe that's the one...don't remember it being on any PPC website though, but there cannot be that many people attempting this conversion!

HI!! I have three sd1`s. A LHD biege 3500se from Oman in the middle east...57000kms. It belonged to a british consulate who worked for the sultan of oman. A gold 2600 vandenplas..69000miles and a blue 2600s. They all need bits + bobs. I have just aquired a janspeed V8 turbo engine and I am looking to drop it in one of my 2600`s...I can`t wait!

No sorry, got way too many other projects on the go at the moment to consider anything more than 'just' keeping the old girl on the road.

Another one here.... I got 4 of the damn things. Love em to bits. If you are in the Rover SD1 Club, Im sure you would have heard of 'Blu-Belle'????

Regards, Lee

1986 2600 VDP auto ('Blu-Belle')
1986 2600 VDP auto (Project 'Sally')
1986 2300 manual ('Baby-Blu')
1976 3500 manual ('Grandad'= because its old, crusty and seized up)

P.S has anyone got a standard V8 engine they want rid of? Beer tokens on offer!
