Lack of Rover P5B Saloon thread info

I would love to see and read more on here if possible about this particular model of the P5B if anyone has any interesting examples to show/share.
I have been looking for a MINT/CONCOURS example for quite a few years now and with not much success apart from a 1974- N registered Black one we went to see in London a few years ago which was totally original and an Ex MOD/Government car I was told.
The seller at the time was being Greedy so I walked away albeit hurt me a lot to do so at that time as it was exactly what I wanted but I would NOT be held to ransom by him over the asking price at that time ( 4 years ago ).
It was on carandclassic a few times over a 18month period starting at £17995 I think and it dwindled down to about £11995 in the end which was still 2-3k above what the classic guide price was back then.
I like the saloons better than the coupe and I recently sat in Harold Wilson & Maggie Thatchers model PRK 315K at Gaydon where it currently sits in the new overflow building in a terrible state along side the Queens back up dark green P5B saloon JGY 280K and her official model JGY 280 is sat on the main floor in the main museum building.
God how I would love to be able to buy any one of these 3 examples then fully restore them to what they once were.

Hi guys and thanks. Since I last made this post I have become the very proud owner of one of the very last built 1973 M reg P5B saloon models. I bought the car just before Xmas 2018 and I am the 3rd owner from new. Both previous owners cherished the car during their ownership years. 1st owner had her from new until 2001 and 2nd owner from 2001 until last year when I bought the car from him.She is what I call a survivor car, rust proofed from new and kept garaged all her life which explains her immaculate and 100% original paint and interior. Since buying her I have so far to date spent around £2000 on her with new items and enhancements from JR Wadhams to future proof her for another 46 years.
I am 50 now and been after one of these cars to add to my private collection since I was a young lad. I just love the P5B saloon model and its stance and presence on the road. Mine is Admiralty Blue with Buckskin interior and only 63000 genuine and fully warranted miles on the clock from new. ( see att pictures ) of my new pride and joy and handover of ownership from previous owner and his kids to myself. All 3 of us owners have been and are Rover P5 club members.

Some excellent photos there; I've seen your comments about photos on the other forum but I wouldn't let that spoil what is otherwise a really useful, friendly and helpful forum. The new black/silver plates look good as well; I normally tend to prefer reflective on the later P5/Bs but, whether it's due to the car's darker colour, your new ones suit it.
Lovely DB7 as well, are they GT wheels?

Cheers Coin slot & Tony. Yes indeed a lot were sadly banger raced back in the days along with Ford Granada's which I had lots of too. Always wanted a P5B since I was a lad and its evaded me for years until now. Yes the 2 previous owners have indeed preserved the car well over the last 46 years and since new BUT I plan to take to car to the next level and make her as mint as possible time and funds permitting. Yes she is already immaculate and original as well as rust and rot free but there is always room for improvement. Ive already invested £2000 in her since I bought her and I plan further expenditure.Lovely DB7 as well, are they GT wheels?
Tony, yes my Aston is a very rare beast TBH and one of the very last 2004 cars built and registered. The first owner specced her with as much GTA kit as he could have so yes the DB7 GT alloys and brakes were on there from day one. Ive added a few more GT spec items as well as a full AML approved Quicksilver sports exhaust with 200 cell race cats and by god does she now roar and go like the proverbial. She is ultra low miles too ( 38500 ) with a full and very detailed service history file as well as pretty much every option available fitted to her less white dials which it was supposed to have but there was a cock up on the line ( recorded in the history file ) and standard clocks were fitted albeit compensation was given in the form of more other dealer fit extras put on the car FOC.
She is in Concours condition, rarely used of late but run up and driven up and down the driveway a lot BUT always kept on the road all year round. BHP output now exceeds the GT's 435 bhp too. I may sell her for the right money due to personal illness reasons which prevent me driving her but she is loved and pampered just like my Rover is and also my daily driver dayvan.
I do enjoy going on the P5 forum and ive also registered on the RSR too albeit both are extreamly quiet but I put that down to the average age of owners probably being a lot higher than my 50 years as a pup. LOL.
