K Series head gasket failure.......

So maybe a silly mistake or damaged block?

Skimmed.

Seemed to do the trick, coolant stopped pressurising. 20 miles (if that) later overheating (thermostat appeared to be opening ok when checking top hose on my post-work checks) - seems like head gasket has gone again.


Having spoken to a colleague who apparently made a similar mistake a few years ago - I should have installed an up-rated head gasket, not unknown for them to fail instantly!

Anybody else had this?

Did it overheat badly the first time? Were there deep grooves in the cylinder head around the fire rings that made you decide to get it skimmed? Did you ensure the liner heights were within specification?
