Rover 75/MG ZT 1.8 turbo PRT Renewal.
Discussion
PRT ~ Pressure Relief/Remote Thermostat.
Took advantage of the brief period of weak winter sunshine and blue skies around mid day in Gloucester. In the event, it was plain sailing. Those pesky powerful spring Hose Fasteners have always proved troublesome to undo on other Rovers I've worked on. Pleasantly surprised to discover all the three used to fasten the hoses to the PRT ( Pressure Relief/Remote Thermostat ) were easy to release using my trusty Mole Grip Wrench I've had since the 1960s. I carefully placed a large tray and bowl under the work and collected nearly all the still new OAT 50-50 Anti-freeze for reuse. It's expensive stuff so worth taking the time to collect it. I passed it all through a cloth filter before putting it back in the cooling system. Needed a minute or so running the engine before the coolant started to emerge from the 8mm coolant bleed bolt hole in the pipe above the Bell Housing. Then topped up and took car for a few miles. Needle on gauge soon reached 'normal' position and remained there. I now have a lovely warm car. Not the luke warm one of the past few weeks ...
I will check the coolant level cold after a few more miles as I expect there could be some settling. There usually is when the cooling system has been disturbed and refilled.
I have put up some illustrations over on the post here :~

So if your 75/ZT 1.8 Turbo is running cool, and you like me need heat, it's a relatively easy fix once the under tray is removed ...
