MOT fail on inner arch - question is how much do we reckon this might cost to fix, its the front edge of the rear drivers side.

If its loads of money then whats a 220 turbo coupe in BRG metallic with full leather, aircon, CD player, on about 70,000 miles worth - laquer is peeling in places...

Hello sir,
Not sure on the welding front, probably £500 quid for a proper job depending on damage. Don't hold me to that tho, as that's based on smaller damage to an old Ford I used to own so may be more.
My interest is the fact you may be willing to sell...
I've been looking for a 94 plate for a while as used to have a similar. BRG and cream leather. Reg was L645 RMX so if it's the same you definitely have a buyer! smile
Seriously, what would you be looking for in terms of sale cost if still considering?
If you are interested in a sale, perhaps you can send me some details and pics to my private email address (will confirm if you want to talk more)?
Let me know.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Dan.

I had the arches welded for £60 per side and it now has a years ticket on it.

The car is BRG with charcoal leather, aircon, cd player etc.

Its actually my mums (70 next year and driving a 150mph sub 7 second 0-60 car) my dad it for her from bristol street rover brand new in 1994 and its done about 70,000 miles total. It has an uprated clutch and release arm/bearing and mechanically its very sound. She even has the sunroof bags in the boot still!

I honestly think this year will be the last year she will be driving due to the onset of dementia and the fact that her licence is due for renewal. We had the conversation about what to do with the car and now that its MOT'd I think another 12 months use and then sell it would be the plan.

What do you reckon these cars are worth?

Glad to hear all was sorted so cost effictively (I'm starting to think I was robbed lol)!
In terms of sale price they're pretty cheap still despite being somewhat rare so if it's in A1 nick with years MOT and tax then probably a couple of grand max. If you need a buyer then email me (danblan1976@gmail.com) as seriously interested in getting hold of one again asap. Up to you and your parents of course but definitely interested if you are considering a quick sale now? wink
Also, massive thumbs up to your mum for sticking with it as these cars are rapid and notoriously crap at cornering!
Let me know if they'd like a quick sale now.
Cheers,
Dan.

to make it perfect I need to get the

Rear bumper and spoiler painted, plus a small section on the edge of the roof as well - this is in hand.

Rear window trim (rimmer bros have these!)

New chrome exhaust trim

Recliner knob for passenger seat.

All very do-able.

Sounds like a good example. When was the cambelt changed and is the head gasket leaking much oil? The hg on the K series engine can be a royal pain in the a**e if not maintained. Small leaks aren't a major concern if it has one, just keep an eye on it. Gearboxes can also be suspectable to problems if driven too hard but that's just part and parcel of this car (can't imagine your mum is ragging it daily like most owners will tend to do wink).
Would you consider a sale before/after you complete the work? Too be honest I'm looking now so let me know either way, but if not, good luck with getting her pristine. Cars like this deserve to be kept on the road as long as possible.
Cheers,
Dan.
