Rover 75 diesel battery drain, ticking from alternator??
Discussion
Ok,had this problem for ages.Tried something i seen online to get to the bottom of my battery drain.ie disconnecting negative lead and connecting test lamp in series(test lamp lights if there's a drain, which it does!),then pulling all fuses to see which circuit is the problem! No fuse i pulled knocked out the light so.
Every night for months i've been disconnecting battery at night, this has been fine.As soon as i connect battery up there is a light buzzing noise?I traced this to the alternator!,plus there's also a ticking coming from it??I had to put three alternators on this car last year to knock out the battery light coming on on the dash,(usually means alt. is on the way out),two new alternators didn't stop battery light coming on,third one from scrapyard did!but there is still buzzing/ticking and battery draining?Anyone any ideas?
