My Rover feels like it could do with a little more pep. It's a fairly agricultural engine, being the 8v 2.0, but it has a turbo and an intercooler seems to be hiding down there too.

The obvious thing would be to try and raise the boost - a) is that do'able and b) is there another way to add a little more torque in other areas before I start playing around and making it cry?

I dont know masses about these engine but get yourself on one of the many MG ZR forums (they have exactly the same engine) MG-Rover.org is a good place to start and there is info all over the place about tuning these, over 160 bhp is reliably and resonably cheaply available, 130 bhp is no problem

Just raising the boost on a diesel engine will gain you pretty much nothing at all - you also need extra fuel to burn in the extra air. The favorite mod on the later L series engines with the electronic controled injection pump is to replace the injectors with those from the earlier models that have the purely mechanical pump (e.g. Rover 200 SDi). These injectors have a lower break pressure, i.e. they start injecting at a lower fuel pressure, which means you get slightly more fuel injected in total. It also means you get poorer atomisation of the fuel and more smoke (which is why the later injectors where used in the first place).

Saw your replies in Monday and forgot to get back to you to say thanks (in my hurry to search ebay for SDI injectors!)
