Allegro Ignition Barrel Replacement.

Hello Chaps.
I lost the keys to my Allegro about a week and a half ago. Sadly, out of the 60 or so keys which I borrowed from a local garage, none of them worked so now I am in need of a new ignition barrel and key. I am going to order that today.
What I wanted to know is which tools are needed and is it a pretty easy job?
I posted this in the Rover section because I thought there would be a good base of knowledge here about this era of cars.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need to get this car back on the road and sold before I go back to university.

It'll be quicker and cheaper to get the right key.

The ignition barrel, or one of the other locks that the ignition key works in, should have the key number on it. You can then order the right one from the internet. I don't know which barrel will have it on though, you'll need some specialist knowledge for that.

Thank you. I have emailed them to see if the barrel will have the number on there. My fingers are crossed right now as getting a new barrel and key is proving quite difficult.

Thanks, but I now have a new key cut. Woop!
Annoyingly I only managed to get the key the day I left for uni so I haven't driven it for at least 2 months!
£500 for the whole car too. Mine cost that and it is in fantastic condition bar a few blemishes on the paint.
