Hi I'm new to the pistonheads forum, but I have a Rover Metro GTI 1.4MPI and have participated in sevaral circuit, a many sprint events.

My main issue at the moment is the hydragas has not yet been modified for racing conditions and I'm losing speed having the bouncing all over the place! Particularly when the slicks are causing onto it to jump onto 2 wheels!

I am running spax dampers on the front, and to keep into spec with possibly entering metro cup events in the future I have to keep the units but need to remove 15mm off the rods.

Does anyone have any write ups or photos of the job being done, as I rarely see this car and need some idea as to what I have to remove and how long it would take me to complete this.

Any information would be hugely helpful.

No worries. I was on my phone last week, so couldn't give a better answer.

It's not to complicated to mess with hydrogas, but can be endless hours of messing about with setup/pressures once you get started.

First thing has to be to get rid of the pipes running front to back, replace them with a valve on each corner. Talk to Mike Williams ( www.mgw-racing.com ) if you need bits.

Then you can shorten the length of rod on each corner & different droop/bump stops to get the ride height & stiffness you want. Next comes geometry...

We are out at Donny on the bank holiday sunday at the end of this month, Snett at the start of October. pop along to a race, we're a friendly bunch, or race car live at Brands in November as theres loads more time to chat & have a good look at a few cars there & we can talk you into coming racing next year.
