Took the train from Edinburgh to Sevenoaks on Thursday afternoon and stayed over in the Royal Oak. I asked for a call at 7.00am, got up, looked outside... oh god! my first drive in my new car, a 2001 Y 4.0 Red Rose was to be a 10 hour trek back to Fife in Scotland in the pi$$ing rain. I opted for the full British breakfast, checked out and started the 10 min walk to the Indy dealer that sold me the car. As i got closer i could see the car sitting outside,it was ready, was i...,in a word, no, my legs were turning to jelly. I cant remember being this scared when i first drove my 450 Chim but having said that the Tuscan looks far more menacing. Exchanged docs and dosh with the Indy(ADG sevenoaks)and started out, the car never missed a beat, the trip was long and uneventful and i didnt go above 90 all the way home.Saturday, blue skies, local roads...its brutal.

JSG, I thought all Red Roses came with air con. You sure yours is just not working? I've definitely got air con in mine according to the service engineer who recently had the bonnet off, however it isn't doing alot of cooling, maybe needs regassing?
I think pdaccus is right - I thought it was the brakes, suspension, and engine on the RR too, with aircon (and trim) on the S. Mine wasn't originally a RR - it had the engine, brakes, and shocks all uprated when the engine went pop. I will be keeping my eyes open for written off Tuscans that I can scavenge and air-con system from, though.
Thinking about it, who knows if it is fitted and just not working (it is a TVR after all)... anyone know where the aircon gubbins live in a Tuscan?

Easy Check for AC:
The only way you can tell whether you have AC or not is if you hear a gentle thunk as the compressor turns itself on. Press the temp nob and the little blue light should come on, (My RR has this and is a non AC car so watch out) and then you will hear the noise maybe a second or two after.
It's easier than taking all the panels off and fishing around for a compressor.
Hope this helps

Yes, but if your compressor is not working or has run out of refridgerant you will not hear a thunk. My car has air con fitted and does not make this sound as according to TVR service it needs regassing. I think the only way to find out whether you have it fitted is to take off the engine hood and look for the compressor and pipes.

No thunk, but as Chim450 says, it could just be broken. Wonder if I could get somebodys broken air-con unit, fit it, then tell the warranty company it's broken...

Any idea where all the pipes & bits are in the engine bay?
I bought my tusc with a/c and was surprised to find that the newly serviced car couldn't produce a whiff of cool air.
After a trip to Blackpool to 'repair' the a/c it worked fine.
A little while later I checked under the bonnet and found brand new shiny a/c components. ALL OF THEM.
Hmmm?
Misadvertised?
