Just thought I'd let all know about this. I knew my renewal date was soon so I checked this morning only to discover it ran out at noon yesterday, no renewal notice, no contact at all from Sunninghills. I rang them and apparently lots of renewal letters have gone out late so worth checking. The guy did say I was still insured however

Same thing here, absolutely nothing from them. Plus this year's quote ended up being more than last year even without the track day cover.

So this I haven't got any track day cover which is a bit of a pain because I was hoping to do a one or two this year (not done a track day in the car but would like to find out what it is like). Maybe they were just telling me that it is time to get a sports exhaust conversion now that I haven't got noise limits to worry about.

Happened to me last year, again it was Sunninghill. Called them up and gave them a bollocking. Had a cover note faxed over the same day.

Are they obliged to send out reminders? My insurance runs out on Monday, and I've not had a reminder or quote for renewing either.

I personally think it's my responsibility to make sure I remember when it expires, so am not too bothered about it, however it would have been nice to have received a reminder/renewal quote without having to chase them.

I'm not saying they are obliged to send you a reminder just that is usually what happens. They admitted they do send them just that they were late. I'm trying to help someone avoid a potentially bad moment, it is so easy to overlook someting like an insurance renewal - I did

Sunninghill did this to me last year as well. Drove the car for about two weeks until I realised that the insurance had expired. Did complain, however it's the owner's responsibility to ensure that cover is in place. They did say though that I was still covered, how this can be right I'm not sure. Reminder letters are not obligatory, and, in my case, got me into bad habits.
