Blackpool coughing up for rebuild
Discussion
Anyone had any success / nightmare stories of Blackpool coughing up for an engine rebuild?
I am just starting this journey!!
History - conrod through block, warranty only for £2000, car is 3yrs old (Y), and 20k miles.
The engine is beginning strip next week, and I want to know what chances I have of getting them to cover the cost. So far, just getting hold of Customer relations is impossible, let alone talking to them....
Sorry if this is a repeated thread!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Exactly what happened to my Tuscan.
I had the same warranty situation through an independant dealer. First quote from TVR was for £13K dealer told them they were having a laugh and through a series of further negotiations the outcome was a rebuild for around £1500 by TVR Power.
So in short negotiate or get your dealer to negotiate and hopefully they'll move on the price...
Good luck

Thanks! I'm with Power too, so things are perhaps looking a bit better....
What was your cause of failure out of interest?
Thanks.

If you have a full TVR main dealer history then you stand a chance. If you don't you don't.
I've never yet heard of the factory paying for the rebuild regardless of Service history or not. Do you have experience of this?
THere was a similar thread to this in the Cerbera forum a few weeks back. I reckon it's only a matter of time until watchdog, trading standards etc get involved as the SP6 engine is clearly 'unfit for use'. Your rights as a consumer(and you have plenty!) are valid for 6 years from the cars build date.

Jigs - you have been reasonably well behaved on here recently. Please do not spoil that.

(i am an independent so have no gain to be made by saying this)
If you want to know all details email me offline.
Let's just say I have to take a very philisophical view when it comes to my TIV.
Thankfully my dealer is always superb in dealing with the factory for me..

Matt,
the dealer was actually David Gerald TVR, but blackpool insistd it be rebuilt by TVR power at the price they quoted.
Don't really know the cause, the conrod snapped and threw piston 6 through the block, but what made the conrod snap is a bit of a mystery. It ended up having cams replaced, new finger followers all new conrods, a new starter motor (flailing pieces has damaged it) new casing it was a bit of a mess all told!
Cheers
