Hi all!

My first post on PistonHeads.

I currently own a BMW M3 Cab, and want to change/upgrade to a Tuscan or Tuscan S.

The Tuscan will be my first TVR, and I have always wanted one since I saw it in Swordfish.

The looks and performance are breathtaking, and my knowledge of the Tuscan has increased ten fold since finding this website.

But………

I really want to test drive the car for a couple of days, rather than the usual 30 odd minutes you get with most dealers, so I can go about my normal daily activities, to see how the Tuscan fairs.

The Tuscan will be my only car, and I would like to know it fit the purpose before I buy it.

Does anyone know, or are aware of a TVR garage down on the south coast where this would be possible.

Thanks in advance.

I hope someone will prove me wrong but I think you may be on a looser there, me thinks you spend your beer tokens and you takes your chance...

I think one of the dealers (TVR Centre ?) used to do a hire facility. It was in the region of £300/day but if you really want to try before you buy it may be a wise choice

Last year I traded my M3 for a Tuscan with only the standard 30mins of test drive. It's my only car and, trust me, you'll never think twice about the decision once you've taken the plunge.

P.S. Mine's a Swordfish car and I'm in the market for selling... interested? 2001, S6 (post-rebuild), 15k, 18" alloys, a/c, chameleon blue... £31k...

Potts - you've obviously thought more than twice if it's now up for sale.

Potts - you have only had it 8/9 months, why are you in the market for selling?

would it not be possible to decide on a dealer and then ask them to hire you a car for a sum which you could then write off any tuscan purchsed with them? i.e. pay them £150 per day for three days and when you buy your car they give you an extra £450 off any deal you do with them. If you dont buy it they have still made £450.

That sounds like a great idea. I'd also suggest taking out a load of different ones for 1/2 hour or so test drives before doing this... find one that feels nice to drive to begin with so you're not stuck with what may be a duff one for a couple of days.

When I first got my Cerb, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to drive it daily, so I got a 206 as a runabout and incase anything went wrong. After a couple of months, I gave the 206 to my parents, and just ran the Cerb. I'm now doing the same with the Tuscan - I've taken the 206 back whilst I get the inevitable initial niggles sorted out, and will then give it away again in a month or two. I may well spend £1k on something like an old Rover 620 if I'm ever racking up high Motorway miles, or incase of needing to park somewhere dodgy, just in case.

I did the same and kept my old 944S as a daily hack. After about 6 months of never driving the 944 I sold it.
