Hello,

Just a question, Do any of you have any of these spped camera detection devices?

If so, do they work?

Do they detect Truvelo, Gatso, Laser and Handheld?

OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS JUST TO SATISFY MY CURIOSITY AS ONLY A DUMMY WOULD APPEAR IN A FORUM LIKE THIS USING THERE NUMBERPLATE AS A USER ID AND THEN SPEEEEEDING!

D'OH!!!!!!! ME AND MY BIG MOUTH!

I use a pocket pc PDA. 200 quid for a 400mhz quick one. 60 quid for a GPS attachment.

Get your Tom Tom nav software from whereever....

then go to:

www.pocketgps.co.uk/uksafetycameras.php

regularility updated, free software and database.

Basically used with the GPS, give you the 3d navigation software, but also shows all speed cameras, and you set it to warm you X yards before them.

works a treat. cheaper than the 'angel' type systems AND you get a full car navigation system.. AND it's portable if you are other cars/bikes.

well.. no. it works by folk sending in waypoints of speedcameras which update the free database which everyone gets the advantage of.

It doesn't pick up folk in vans.

And it doesn't pick up police cars behind you either...

I have the Morpheous Road Pilot system with the optional radar horn fitted. It has been excellent for all types of cameras. You update the system via the net for all fixed camera locations. The optional radar horn catches the folk in vans and tripods, etc. The system is all user definable for sensitivity, voices, camera distance alerts, etc. It's helped me find hidden sights on many occasions!

I have used the Road Angel on an M3 and my F360, saved my bacon more times than I care to remember.

Bugger all fiddling about required when driving which is the best bit, I think with the cheaper options you'll probably have to change settings all the time whilst on the move.

Would like to hear if anyone here uses the new Snooper with 360degree laser detection?

i know someone with the road angel its best thing ever invented they pick up every thing you update them every two weeks and if you are stuck in traffic you can mute them. it picks up the black spots. you can set the range so the faster you are goin the sooner it will let you know

Good advice on camera detection using GPS. However, I find the biggest danger is from the mobile speed cameras in vans which use laser. Laser can be detected but it only takes o.3 secs for him to get your speed, therefore, by the time you have reacted, its too late.
What you need is a laser jammer which detects the laser and jams it for 5 secs giving you time to adjust your speed. Apparently the best one is the Target LRC100 and I think Snooper do one as well but they are quite difficult to set up.

One thing to remember though is that Laser Jammers are illegal - plod recently did someone for using a laser jammer, something about preventing a plod doing his job

I use a Valentine 1, bit old but does the job, especially when used in conjunction with a pair of eyes and some common sense!

you all had a point about the little boxes. far neater than my PDA thing, and some work on my bike too..

Just managed to get a geodesy plus with re-radiating antenna for 142 quid off ebay.. will fit nicely hidden in tuscan once I get it, and be transferrable for the blade too. cool.

Bit of a mine field.
One of the advertisers here (top banner ads) is a very good friend from college. Give him a call as he knows everything there is to know and will talk you through the various options. He will also be able to do you the best deal on the internet. Call Steven or Louise on 01252 642544 www.tradingdirect.co.uk

From what I have been told the best bet is a GPS based unit with laser detection in and if you are totally paranoid and not bothered about breaking the odd law, a laser jammer fitted in the grill is probably worth it too.

Good Luck.

I heard about use of a laser jammer by someone in SOuth Wales being charged as attempting to pervert the course of justice - a serious charge carrying long prison sentence if established.

The other thing you could be charged with is obstructing police in the course of their enquiries - that's a much lesser offence but would still give you a record.

That'e enough discouragement for me. PLus it still doesn't protect you against an unmarked car following you.
