By irony my Tuscan will soon be due her 24,000 mile service - when it has not even got 18,000 on the clock. The last service was around 12 months ago and done by the factory. I've done probably only 3,500 miles tops since then.

Mindful of the need for goodwill where engines are concerned - what is the consenus of opinion re servicing. Can I stretch it more than 12 months or by doing that would I forgo any goodwill gestures by the factory if the engine should develop issues in the future? Likewise, would it be a big no-no to go to a good independent for S6 servicing, and again for go goodwill by taking the car out of the TVR/TVR dealer network?

Can anyone give me an idea of costs for the 24K service (excluding having the tappets done)?

Thanks

SNAP !

I'm sticking with my main dealer for the 4 year 24K service, in particular as it's due to have the valve clearances checked, so if there was any horrors hiding under the cam cover, at least it would be my main dealer who knows me speaking to the factory on my behalf....

...will worry about it in June when it's due ! currently all running well...

cheers

being in the process of looking for a tuscan, I'm been researching the same stuff.

Have a look on tvr powers website, they have fixed price servicing (well... as a base anyway).

There prices seemed about the same as my local dealer (kerridges), so worth checking your local too. Broadly similar though.

Is it 12K between having the valve clearances done? Think mine were last done at 12K and it now has less than 18K, so maybe a bit early to be having it done? Hmmm, decisions decisions.

Mine is also coming up for it’s 24K service although will only have about 20K on when it goes in which is 10K since the tappets were adjusted. I had a look at several other options rather than main dealers as the one I have used for a long time last year charged £78.72 including VAT per hour & no doubt it has gone up again. I have booked it in at the factory this year as want to maintain main dealer/factory service record just in case ‘good will’ is required at any time and there hourly rates are a bit less..

I think I´m going to use TVR Power for my upcoming 24k service as my 18k one cost nearly 700 quid at the main dealer so their prices look good. I´m going to stump up and have the tappets done just for peace of mind if nothing else.

Just had my 24k service done at TVR Power, including tappets and paid in the region of £950 which went up to £1200 for fixing a number of non-service niggles.
