Broken down!!

Here's what happened....
Coming home after a little Easter blast.... and heard a slight chain noise (I think), oil pressure dropped to 17psi and the oil light flicked on and off. Pulled over, but the oil pressure picked up again normal. Another mile down the road (just trying to crawl home at this point!), and the same short burst of apparent chain rattle/noise. Oil pressure low again, and lost 70% of power... at this point I new I had to stop quickly. Pulled over and spotted a small trail of oil up the road, and about 1 litre of oil under the car.
Good old Directline have now got the car in a lock up, ready to take to TVR Power on Tuesday morning (only live 10 miles from them).
Don't really konw what the problem is. Could be a broken oil pump chain, but then why did it all leak out??
Odd. Any ideas??

Typical... weather is good, and car is sat in TVR Power...

Anyone any idea what it could be?? Don't think there is a gaping hole in the sump, but I've not actually looked yet...
