Diagnostic codes again
Discussion
I have just had my 6000 mile service. All is well except when I turn the ignition on and before starting her up I get diagnostic code E coming up. This is: E - Fuel level sensor not activating zero switch or switch broken. I am going to contact my dealer anyway but how serious should we take these diagnostic warnings. Most people I have talked to have had a few odd intermittent ones.

I spoke to the factory about these codes. They told me that most cars (if not all these days) store them in the ECU and the dealer checks them come service time.
TVR in their infinite wisdom display them all. They can be useful as you can see (like you have done) that the fuel gauge sender is possibly playing up.
Generally, I make a note of them and hit reset. So far I've had about 1/2 a dozen various codes but nothing specific.
Best advice in your case is to do what you suggest and get it looked at.

The warnings are there for a reason - something is broken. The most serious one is the EFI warning, but that can come on just after you've washed the car. I would want to get the others fixed though. The sensors are there to detect more serious problems like your oil pressure dropping, and if you're not getting a reading from the sensor......
The most common code to come up is "L", which means you have been driving too slowly.
Cheers,
Andy.
