i dropped the b***ard thing whilst cleaning the interior today, and its scratched up horribly.

does anyone know if you can get the roof resprayed anywhere efficent and for good value, and how much it might cost? worryingly i have a reflex paint which im not sure would be easy to match panel by panel??

any help/advice would be very much appreciated!!

i don't think you need to go to blackpool to get it fixed theres plenty of skilled bodyshops out there that can sort it out.what reflex paint is it as some bodyshops might have spare paint from a job and it would save you money buying it from new

Hi Superfly,
You really have my sympathy. Dropping the lid has been one if my nightmares since I bought my little monster especially as I am under 5' and it's alsmost taller than me - I also have the reflex paint.
I hope you get it sorted out soon without too much trouble.

Superfly,

Well I have the must expensive paint job there is 'Cascade Copper' and I did exactly what you done.

If you call Castle TVR (Essex neat stansted), see link below they have a separate coachworks that will look after you. The coachworks have a specialists team of 4 people who only work on TVR's (other cars the coachworks service are mercs). They did an excellent job on mine and you would never tell I scratched it, it was only a scratch on the corner for mine but enough to be noticeable for a respray.

Sorry to hear that Superfly.

Give our painter Tom Horsburgh a ring on 07833 347303 or 01420 473860 - based on the Surrey/Hampshire border.

He's just done the front panel on our Reflex Purple - perfect job. Tom's a magician when it comes to Reflex matches.

Alf Essex - I always thought your roof panel looked at odds with the rest of the paintwork - but was too polite to mention it - but as you've brought the topic up I hope you don't mind me saying so.

F-ing tosser! I think your now over the mark...

For the benefit of the guy who asked the question on this thread, ignore this prat as the guy has not seen my car and even if he did clearly his eye sight is failing him.

Clearly you were an abused child....so seek help!

Sorry to hear about the roof panel. Hey you can always emigrate to Spain where you wont need the roof anyway?? I am sure there are plently of specialists that will be able to help you get the panel resprayed. Good luck.

I nearly dropped my roof once, I was just lifting it into position and a big truck came along and nearly blew it out my hands it's eaisly done. Anyway flip/flop paint's are much eaiser to match than flat coulors and any good body shop should be able to sort it for you.

I have had several panels re-painted on mine (Atlantis Helcyon) and the coulor match has been excellent.

Terribly sorry Alf Essex -
I didn't mean to touch such a raw nerve -
Hey it's only a car so don't become so abusive because I comment on the photos of your car -
I simply stated that the fact that as your roof panel had been damaged and needed to be resprayed explains why it looks at odds with the rest of the paintwork in the photos that's all. It may just be from some angles in a certain type of light so I wouldn't worry too much.

You shouldn't call someone a tosser, question their eyesight and allege 'child abuse' just because someone speaks the truth as they see it. I wouldn't have mentioned it if you hadn't brought it up first -

Just forget I said anything okay - It doesn't bother me at all and as you're replacing it soon it shouldn't bother you.

Good luck.

Totally agree m8, but think its a shame that jigs thinks his comments are amusing when we are trying to provide advice to people on here and when he mentions things about my car which are clearly not true (ask anyone that knows me and my car...a lot of people!) then I stand to put it right!

I'm not the only one that is getting pissed off with this guy

I'm with you in this one Alan.

Back to topic,

Give Jason @ www.TVRbodyshop.co.uk as call. He's done some touch up work for my cars before, and you'd never spot the job.

I'm very sorry if someone else's opinions cause some of you such hurt and embarrassment - it's not intended - be more tolerant and less self-centred perhaps.

Hi Alan,
I've been down this road many times with this guy and it aint worth getting riled cos thats what he feeds on. We know your car, and how you treat it. Thats all that matters. Its just not worth getting drawn in.

Cheers Di

Alf, dont worry, JIGS opinion doesnt count for much, did you see the thread where he claimed some blokes Griff was "not right"? Turns out it was all original, despite JIGS protestations that it had been modified - I dont think JIGS knows his rear end from the bend in his arm!

No offense JIGS, sure you will take this post in the manner it is intended......
