Has anyone regularly taken off the roof section and left the rear window in to save time? The weather is tempting me! I heard somewhere on here that the rear window can blow out.

I don't think i have ever taken the back window out and have never had any problems.

I have even been known to speed with it in....

I only take my rear screen out if I going for a long stretch on the motorway, as you do get a bit of buffeting. For general hooning it stays in, it hasn't even been a problem.

i ve had the roof off everytime i drive the tusc including in the winter along as it not raining!! i nearly always have the back window in apart from the buffering ive had no problems, how olds your car i have a 2001 car which had the old style back window, have recently replaced it with the new style which fits alot tighter to the rear seal and window catchs, it seems alot more stable and is well worth the upgrade.

I did most of my driving in the lakes last November with the window in and roof off. No problems at all although there was buffeting above 60 or so.

Apparently the very early cars had a slightly smaller rear screen which was more likely to blow out. This may be bo11ox though.

The early rear screens were about 5mm smaller in width so not likely to cause window to blow out.The only one I heard of that came out was due to one of the catches not working. I have been well into three figure speeds 'on the track' with the roof off and rear screen in with no problem.Usually only take the rear screen out when it's really hot, although can recomend using Halfords rubber & nylon lubricant on the seals as the rear screen then slides in much eaiser

I think I heard the same story Nick. The only reason to take the rear screen out is to save your eardrums at constant 80mph+.

Cheers,

Andy.
