Soon to buy my first Tuscan - maybe?
Discussion
I've been given a reasonable part ex offer on my car for a 2000 Tuscan. I believe it is the RR version, although the dealer (non franchise) calls it an 'S'.
I have a few questions:
1/ Engine reliability scares me. Does the RR suffer the same finger followers problem as non RR's.
2/ Do all early cars have the finger follower problem?
3/ How many miles would you expect from an well maintained engine that doesn't have the finger follower problem?
4/ I keep seeing that 'contacting' the factory should be able to confirm if the finger follower upgrade has been carried out, along with any other bits. Is there a 'right way' of approaching the factory about this (phone number, address, etc).
Thanks for your patience with a 'newbie to be'.
Phil.

If you have a few hours spare, search on finger follower in the archives. It's been asked once or twice
The RR cars can suffer from the same issues as the non RR ones. It's not all 2000 cars that suffer. A lot of cars have not had a problem, but equally a lot have. My car has had 2 engine rebuilds, one at about 10k and the other at about 16k miles. The failures seem to often happen between 8-12k miles.
