I would reckon air-con as useful but not essential. I have found that travelling with the roof on it can get a little warm. The only time I do travel with the roof is when its raining therefore I need to keep the windows closed to stop water getting in. The rest of the time (95% or more) its not an issue - fairly good as I don't have it on mine.

On the rest of your questions I have no experience therefore no comment.

I Have aircon on my Tuscan, but it`s only used as a weekend car, like Bob i have the roof off most of the time and can count the times i`ve used it on one hand,If the car is going to be used every day then yes it`s a must,it would also help the resale value, the car will be worth £13k next year not £12k(jigs est) On the warranty front most companies are ok when it comes to the normal stuff i.e starter motor, master cylinders ect however be careful if a rebuild is required i would do as much as i could to get some thing in writing about the engine situation Good luck anyway and as ANY! speed 6 OWNER! will tell you "you won`t regret it" Tony

Its better for resale...

But the other side is of course when buying they generally cost less.

V plate, blimey, thats one of the very very first. I would suggest, just as a heads up if nothing else, that you search the forums for 'early tuscan'...

Sounds quite a reasonably priced car. It may be worth reading some previou posts about the dealer. I am in the market for our first TVR and I was definately left with the impression that perhaps they should be given a miss.

But then perhaps, that's just my interpretation - without wishing to be too negative.

Blimey - £25k for an early 2000 car. You can have my 2002 RR for £5000 more complete with AC and CCC cans etc !!!

It has to be said, that based on the market and time of year that that is well over book money wise...

(Thats the V Plate not yours Plipton...)

As long as you ask all the right questions and make sure all the problems HAVE been sorted, I suppose so.

I would. If my car was for sale I would buy it. (theoretically speaking)

reflex purple, I still love the colour but would never order another new TVR in a reflex paint, too expensive for stone chips etc

Personally I wouldn't consider a Tuscan without air-con.
But then I hardly ever remove the roof.

I would rather go for a sorted early car and use the spare cash for Nitrons, new cans, Racelogic TC etc, as indeed I am doing.

Price wise, I paid 25k for my July 2000 car with aircon just under a year ago, so it does seem a bit high.

I wouldn't rule one out totally, just check that the engine has been 'given the treatment' at the factory before you buy. My Tuscan was 'reworked' in 2003, so it should be (finger crossed) 'sorted'.
