Does anyone else feel that the Tuscan ride and hadling are a bit cr*p or is it just me. Considering having some suspension work done on the car, but want to feel it is not just my specific car that has a bit of a problem.

Jon,

It would be well worth getting the alignment checked first. One of the guys on the Tuscan egroup has the settings and reckoned it transformed his car.

Cheers,
Ted

Me again Boll.
I had the alignment done by TMS and it absolutely transformed the car.
It needed a full 4 wheel chassis based alignment rather than just a 4 wheel job as all were pointing one way with respect to the chassis leading to the car crabing down the road and diving left and right under acceleration / braking.

Mine was only a few months old and was well out as released from the factory.

They use someone nearby to them but I don't know who, sure they'd tell you though or so it for you.

I came to work via the very bumpy / off camber unclassified road this morning, and just happening to be thinking how the ride / grip / handling are just fine. I've got a June 2001 car - so the mounting points (should be) are different than the older cars to help cope with the 18" wheels - and the suspension settings are the latest. The last mods I know of were done for the launch of the Tuscan S. These were supposed to be carried over to the Tamora with a bit softening.

A quick re-alignment should fix the problem though.

Cheers,

Andy.

The reason I got rid of my red rose tuscan was the high speed stability and generally poor handling and that was with every alignment and service mod done by everyone including the factory.

By all accounts the tamora is way superior to the tuscan when it comes to handling, and aparently evenly matched performance due to its weight. Will probably wait 2 years and then buy a sorted one.

Then again, the baby aston or baby lambo sound VERY cool and worth the wait.

That'll be the same people who send new ones out all over the shop. I wouldn't trust them particularly.

I've had absolutely no problems with high-speed stability in the 'S'.

Had 152mph on the digital clock (obviously not on HRH's highways!), and felt solid as a rock.

You are right Ross. Full set of Gas Monoshock Nitron Dampers coming right up

Spoke to Guy Evans and he is about to produce these at the same price as the old "normal" adjustables. Will be having a full alignment done when the new track rod end arrives. It is jammed and therefore the geometry cannot be sorted until this happens.

Obviously will be using Joolz to fit and set them up.

they do a dynometer service as well according to the website, so you could get them optimised for the rest of the car. as i recall tvr centre had this done at ohlins for their griff kit a few years back. interested in how you get on!

Am I the only person who thinks the Tuscan handles superbly?

Yesterday evening I had a fantastic drive with the roof off on quite country roads on the moors in Yorkshire. The car was tremendously balanced at both high and moderate speeds and round the twisties left all the motorbikes (also enjoying the early evening sun) miles behind. I had an Elise for 3 years and over the same roads it was far far slower.

yeah my June 2000 RR now handles as it should after it's 3D wheel alignment at Micheldever. Shame the factory did not bother to get it correct in the first place.

I'm quite happy now.

I'm very happy with mine now also.

Before the alignment was sorted however I lived with my heart in my pants at anything over 60mph!!

My 2000 RR had the alignment done by Fernhurst and micheldever and it was still pants. OK to about 110, but over that it was somewhat scary. In comparison, a F360 was solid as a rock at 145 on the same piece of road.

Lets hope they get it right in the TuscanR otherwise there will be some seriously pi**ed off customers.

The other reason I got rid of the car is because:

UK Roads are not built for speed (bumps & humps)unlike france and other parts of northern europe.

Every time you get up to speed some idiot mis judges your speed and pulls out in front of you.

Reliability probs
Stupid little things like doors dropping, rattling, leaking. Every time the probs were fixed it was only a matter of time until something similar happened again.

Expense of running car
Having to replace the wheels because they kept bending, expensive servicing and insurance for a car that only ever went out at weekend (commute to London during week so get up in dark and get home in dark).

Im sorry to say that after owning TVR's since 97 up until this year, Ive now given up on the factory and have no trust or belief that they will get any better.

Shame as I was a firm believer.
I hate to say it but perhaps if TVR was bought (and it wont be if PW has his way) by a LARGER manufacturer things may improve.

Anyway, Im going racing instead
