Guys,

As its my first year at Le Mans what spare bit for the Tuscan do I need to take,

I hear I need spare bulbs but where can I get these from? Are they standard, if so, what are they?

Anything else?

Alan.

As well as the spare bulbs a warning triangle, Spare Fuses, First aid kit, AA 5 star recovery, insurance green card, engine oil, coolant/water ,rainX, spare wiper blades.

Wedge of Euros for speeding fines, they don't take plastic.

Battery lead jump start connector thing (in case you leave the lights on...) and a throttle cable. Not much else you could fix at the side of the road (except maybe alternator belt), so I just take a reasonable tool kit and a couple of plastic cable ties, insulating tape, some hose clamps, and some spare lengths of wire.

Spare bulbs (along with warning triangle) are a legal requirement in France.

See you there !

Hi Alan,

The only specific thing in addition I am going to be taking to Le Mans this year is a couple of 100A fuses (I think they go between the alternator and the battery or something). It looks like they have started to go on year 2000 cars. Don't know where they go or what they look like yet - but if they blow the whole electrics conks out!

Cheers,

Andy.

Nope, do they really insist on a GB sticker? I asked this with fellow owners who went last year and who didn't have the above plate they were fine.

I travel regularly to Limoges to our house down there, and do not bother with a GB sticker, and have never had any problem. I do keep a sticker in the glove box just in case.

Two essential items to take are gaffer tape and WD40, just for emergencies. If it moves and it shouldn't - use gaffer tape, if it doesn't move and it should - use WD40

Sound advice.

This may sound odd - but chewing gum.

Sometimes you need to retrieve small bits, fuses, nuts etc from awkward places. Just put some gum on the end of a stick, and you may get the bits back again without difficulty, and getting covered in dirt and oil.

I am sure you had one on when you left the UK, maybe it wasn't stuck on very well and has since blown off - lucky you had a spare one in the glove box so you can still drive abroad

I was informed by the AA that the standard policies no longer include international recovery as the majority were paying for the needs of the minority apparantly. Cost for 5 days cover for Le-Mans is £34 on top which covers taking your car back to UK and hire car charges up to £120 per day.

We took RAC, as they seem to be cheaper at £95 for an annual policy plus 5% discount if you book online.

Hope this helps.

I haven't taken out any brakedown recovery yet, but came across these guys:
www.goldrescue.com
£59 per annum for UK & European cover.
Can anyone give a thumbs up or down for them?
