I would love to be getting more winter miles under my belt, however under light acceleration and low revs (2200 - 3600) I tend to look like a learner driver. The power on my '03 Tuscan seems to be cutting in and out, which can be a bit embarassing when all admiring glances are pointed this way. This was only just noticable, but now it seems to be getting worse. I did have a flat battery over the Xmas period. Is it possible that the ECU has been affected or is that hardwired in? Any advice gladdly recieved.
I guess so. But in less than a year??!!??
Wouldn't that result in problems at all revs rather than such a specific band??
I did have a troublesome misfire at the end of last year which resulted in the throttle bodies and butterflies(?)going back to the factory. At the time this did seem to do the trick. Just wondering if curing the "symptoms" have resulted in the problem coming back again.
Looks like another call to the dealership!

A dead HT lead will cause the car to run like it is on only 4 or 5 cylinders (which is due in no uncertain terms to it running on only 4 or 5 cylinders, the HT leads act in pairs so one dead lead will definitely take out 1 cylinder and maybe another as well) but as you say it will have this impact (and it is a VERY noticable impact) at all revs
The stutter you talk about sounds more like throttle bodies or dirt in the fuel filter - have you run the tank to empty or bought cheap fuel?

I only use Optimax (just in case folk-law is to be believed!), and I have not ever run it below 6-8 litres. As you know it makes such a racket (beep, beeeeep!) when you are running low I can't imagine anyone running empty in a Tuscan.
Its interesting to hear whats been said about the throttle bodies. I dont know exactly what they are, but I do know they were the bronblem the last time. I'll let you know what the experts think.
Thanks
