Any advice from you guys about running in a new Tuscan S 0-1000 miles. I am upto 350 miles but am getting a little fed up with 3500rpm! Can I stretch it's legs a little bit now? The Tuscan handbook is a little misleading about running in over 250 miles. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Stick to the hand book!!

You can give it a few VERY short bursts of 75% throttle.. Get it to 5,000 rpm but don't hold it.

By doing this you will bed the rings and get a much more usable and reliable engine.

I did this from 0 to 1,500 miles then increased from there until 6,000 miles (It went after that).

Good luck with it!

It wouldn't give it any hard beans until after the 1000 mile service. But don't be too soft on it.

Don't give it full throttle but as the miles build, rev it higher and harder to bed in the engine evenly.

Do it properly and it'll reward you for the rest of it's life.

As with any new motor try to visualise whats going on in there, all the bits that move around will fit reasonably well but may have a few rough edges and need to build a smooth surface. You need to rev it briefly to help this but the biggest enemy of a new engine is labour, never make the engine feel like it's pulling away in 3rd gear, check your oil too. Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but I don't know you

I agree with all the guys below, I ran my S in last year but also watched the tyres. They say the tyres take about 500 miles to run in so I started 75% bursts after the 500 miles to ensure I have the necessary grip. When up to 750-ish I then pushed it a bit further. The engine just seems to be getting better all the time and up to 7000 now.

Maybe you would like to consider getting someone else to run it in for you....I would be happy to run it up to Scotland and back for you if you pay for the fuel, food and hotel

Great idea Graham, perhaps I could throw in a gourmet meal for 2, champagne, tickets to a top show and oh yes not just any old hotel, 5* of course. There again, I could just continue running it in myself but thanks for the thought!!!
