Have recently sold my 4.5 Cerbie and am looking to move to a Tuscn RR/S (depending onhow flush I feel next month) and thought that I'd just check the insurance premiums with Mannings. My Cerbie would have been renewed at about £650 fully comp. 5000 miles etc but a Tuscan, similar value etc will cost me £950!!!!

Apart from the obvious trawling around getting quotes feel that 50% Additional Premium above the Cerbie is alot of money for a car with similar performance.

Are people crashing their Tuscans regularly or something??? because cannot otherwise see why this is. Even a T350C was cheaper to insure.

nail on the head here - loads of people I have spoken to about insurance on a tuscan report that the insurers complain on masses of claims on this particular model. Hence high premiums.

I heard exactly the same...........my premium doubled. In the end I got the best deal from Directline, as good as my previous years insurance from my broker, I could hardly believe it! (was still about £950 inc Euro breakdown with 7 years NCB)

Jurdy. Try Tesco's. They were the best for me and I have a Tuscan RR. They were £175 cheaper than A Manning with no increase for milage. Even if you state 5k or 10k per annum the premium stays the same. You dont get track cover though.

I bet its mainly front end damage where people get annoyed at the crap speed six engine or TVR's disregard for customer services, so they smash it into a wall. (have had problems as you may have guessed)

When I changed from the Chim to the Tuscan the difference was only an extra £50 a year (Peart).

Seems to be more people who lose the back end and hit things (like other cars, walls, trees etc) - not sure why the Tuscan is more prone to this, maybe it is just the first TVR to appeal to none TVR people or something? Either way, it is getting expensive to insure, so could you all please be extra careful and try not to make a claim so that next year I don't need to sell a kidney

Unfortunatly there do seem to be a high number of claims for tuscans but my tusc is cheaper to ins than my griff was.

Try ClassicLine Insurance, they were £300 cheaper on my new Tuscan S @ £650.00. They offer a sort of future classic car policy.

Hi Jurdy! Did you enjoy the Cerbie, did it go to a good home?

It went to a great home and now in FRANCE with a very nice guy called Lauren , the car was unreal once I had all the suspension set up and never ever let me down.

Need more speed now but don't fancy going down the bugs in the teeth route like you!

Nice one!

I sold the SLR for an SR3 ... but the lure of a fast road car has returned and we have also just got a GT3.

Good luck finding the Tuscan then!

Never thought 911s would "do" it for me either, but the GT3 is simply stunning and I love even just sitting in it.
