I've managed to run the Tuscan about 1200 miles with no significant problems emerging since I picked it up 3 weeks ago.
Having started to run out of people to show off to in the UK, we have decided to ignore all the tales of woe and unreliability and are off to visit some friends near Lyon over the Easter long weekend.
Will pack some tools, a few spares and 5* breakdown cover !
Looking forward to a long blast (it's about 550 miles from Le Havre) on some good roads. Have previously done the trip in the Subaru (with stops for kids) in about 6 hours, so it will be interesting to see if we can beat that.
Any useful suggestions / traffic problems / gendarme favourite spots etc between Le Havre - Paris - Auxerre - Bourg en Bresse - Lyon ?
Thom - give us a wave as we pass !
Cheers
Ian

Ian,
Lyon is a lovely place, you should have a great time!
As far as plods are concerned I would recommend the following: beware of any car parked alongside the road, slow down between the last exit and the toll - a favorite place for speed trap since they can catch the driver a couple of miles later. Although the tradition seems to be somewhat dying consider people driving in the other direction flashing their lights as a plod-warning. Other than that, enjoy open French roads.
Cheers

Let me tell you that if you don't stop when you see me I will do my very best to prevent you from leaving France
More seriously, avoid as much as you can the motorways; they're damn expensive and it's the best place for being stopped by the plods...

Stick to the non motorway bits.
Took the Tuscan down to Provence in the summer of 2000 - only had one minor problem with it but the best bit was the pleasure of driving through the open French countryside & stopping on route for lunch etc and a spot of sight seeing. The attention we got when we stopped was amazing everyone wanted to know all about the car - quite nice really especially as my girlfriend is fluent in French and could tell them all about it.
Motorways are for BM's & Merc's a roads are for TVR's
Whatever you do - enjoy
