Morning all,

my Tuscan seems to have gone mental. When I've closed the door and begin to drive , the windown comes down on its own and the screen shows the message "Door Open"

I have tried re opening and closing the door but it keeps on happening. Has anyone else had a problem of this nature??

I'm presuming that there is something sticking somewhere along the line but if anyones had a similiar problem I'd like t hear about it.

Regards

Duncan

I had a bout of the "auto window moving" and the "unexpected door opening at speed" around Christmas. Fixed by replacing the window encoder. No problems since. Talk to your dealer.

Probably an even simpler solution. I had exacly this problem a few weeks back. It is simply the door catch sensor. I found that by pulling the door close the error went away. The worse side affects are that the problem can actually occur when the car is turned off. This means that although you can lock the car the window remains open, and the courtesy light remains on (unless you turn off) and something else must put a drain on the battery as when I had this problem my battery went flat in 3 days. Anyway to the solution... Take the catch plate off, careful with the 3 tiny screws, the heads chew up very easy and the thread is easy to damage when tightening. With the plate off you'll see the little sensor behind the catch mechanism - it has a wire running from it. You can either loosen the screw on the sensor and lever it forward a little of loosen the door catch with it's 3 (I think) screws and move in nearer the sensor. The second method is riskier as it effects the alignment of the door when closed. Anyway problem solved in 2 minutes. Before you make any adjustment you can manually trigger the sensor by pressing in the little metal bar to see if this is actually th cause.

Tuscanboy--I rang my dealer yesterday afternoon--he said to do exactly what you posted--it worked-problem solved. I'm always nervous playing around with the car as I generally break everything I touch but I managed to do it .So if anyone else out there has a similiar problem , its a doddle..
P.S I should have mentioned that the problem was due to a drunken idiot kicking the car when I'd stopped to let him cross the road-next time he gets run over.
