There is a company that have made some sports exhausts for the Tuscan Speed Six for one of TMS's customers, pictures will follow by this weekend on their website.

Has anybody had any other experiences in this on the Tuscan?

Quite a few people have had their Tuscan exhausts 'sleeved'. A simple bit of pipe into the back box and they sound absolutely fabulous. Get the right sized piping and it's very cheap too.

Had my Tuscan fitted with a Waldonway sports exhaust (removeable sleeves in the cans) at it's 1000 mile service about a year ago. The difference is amazing.

Was at the Mallory Park track day last week and the guy that assessed me couldn't understand why it sounded so different to the others until I owned up!

Speaking of which if anybody has any video footage of that track day with my car on it can they let me know as I would like to hear it myself from the outside!! Might be able to reciprocate as I have some of the other cars. My car can be seen in my profile. Many thanks in advance.

I'd like a sports exhaust on my Tuscan, but I heard somewhere that it can cause the cats to burn out. Is this right?

if you get a response on the footage side, could you let me know? as I too would like to hear my car having it's neck rung.

Cheers, Nik (black chimp)

This seems to be a point of contention. The only given is that if a) your engine goes "bang" and b) TVR find out you had sleeved the exhausts when it did so, you can c) whistle in the wind as far as the engine warranty goes. Although some dealers would dispute this.

In an e-mail on the Tuscan owners Yahoo group, Steve Heath said that the engine computer could be used to show evidence of all sorts of owner misdemeanours. Whether or not they can infer that you had sleeved your exhausts from a series of historical readings, he is better placed to tell you.

So you pays your money and takes your choice. Personally I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I am interested in the comment about the sports exhausts potentially causing the cats to burn out. Is this something that is being said about Tuscans specifically or all sports exhaust conversions?

The reason for asking is that this type of conversion has been being done on these types of cars for a very long time and I have never heard of this happening. I know several people who have had sports exhausts on Griffs, Chimaeras, Cerberas (loads), Elises, Exiges etc, some for many years and thousands of miles and never had a problem.

Has anybody here had this sort of problem that they can tell us about? Just interested where these concerns have come from.

Nik,

From your post I guess you were at Mallory. Which group were you in. I have footage from the intermediates and advanced cause I wasn't good enough to get in those groups!! Track day virgin till then I'm afraid! Plus a little of the last few novices that stayed to the end (I didn't do the last novice session due to a lack of fuel and cash! £1 per litre and cash only! Should have said in the info!).

Note to chimp-boy in Rotterdam - obviously I'm not as agressive on the brakes as you thought!

Nik,

Didn't know about the cheque part. Guy on the pump just said, 'you do know that it's cash only guv' and left it at that. Will remember for next time.

I was in a bluey coloured Tuscan (ice grey violet according to VW put that doesn't help most people, check out my profile here). I'll check my dv footage to see if I have any of your black chimp.

Cheers
