People selling their Tuscan

Maybe a combination of the following.
1.Lots of TVR newbies who have had second thoughts
2. People who bought them for a short term investment, and want shot before prices dip any lower
3. Genuine owners who have got nervous about residuals "cutting their losses"
4. The ones for sale may account for the absolute nightmare cases owned by less tolerant people than the readers of these columns
5. A crap winter with few cold sunny days to enjoy the car at it's best
Two days of driving in the sunshine this week has reaffirmed by decision not to join the "Top Marques" Brigade
I also think that there are:
a) a number of 1st-generation demonstrators dealers are selling
b) a number of very early owners who actually ordered 2 cars & are selling the first when they take delivery of a newer 'more sorted' one
c) repeat TVR owners who miss the low-down torque of the V8 rather than the S6's top end power
I've been considering changing the griff for a tuscan but have only heard bad stories. Poor electrics, paintwork, interior leather peeling off dash. I reckon there will soon be a flood onto the market. Apparently quite a few people bought as a change to porkers etc and won't put up with the problems. Also apparently TVR haven't taken an order since the price rise so they will possibly have to reduce the price again, leaving 2nd hand values to plummet. Shame.
From talking to tuscan peeps most are 1000% percent happy with them. the current models are much better than the release 1.0. and most of the 1.0 release cars have been upgraded.
Al the tuscan bods complain about these days is "my paint job is better than yours" in the early days it was all faults. I dont think anyones complained about a fault for ages..
Quite a few of the for sale cars are either people who ordered them a few years ago and now carnt really afford them so are letting them go, or the lucky peeps just getting ther second tuscan..
Oh is only i could afford a new car every year ( or ever!!!)

Sorry if my statement appears ill informed, it was taken by such unreliable sources as main dealers, 2 owners and a stereo/alarm fitter who has had 3 in, all of whom have had problems ranging from the leather peeling probs to cars being recalled for considerable periods of time.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Tuscan, am extremely TVR loyal and would change in an instant if I felt that my 35-40 grand was being spent on a machine that wasn't going to let me down.
I realise that TVR is an individual marque and one will inherently encounter some problems with these cars, I have switched from Stuttgart to Blackpool based upon such an understanding. But don't try to tell me or any of us that the Tuscan is floorless, we know it's not. Prices will come down...

I agree the car is far from flawless, and that I may have been more fortunate than some, but it has to be remembered that there are probably several hundred cars out there and you are referring to a potentially very small percentage of them. I am under no illusions about the residuals of the car, but I think that there is an enormous difference between depreciation and price "plummets". According to Piston Ted, cars advertised on this site have been removed due to people actually selling them, and most of these were advertised at unalarming prices. The point I am trying to make, is that fuelling speculation about a product's declining value, no matter how truthful or otherwise, will certainly not help residuals - and that isn't to any of our advantage (unless this is a cunning plan to help you pick up one for 20 grand !!)

I SAID IT BEFORE AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN......SPEED SIX ENGINE...SOUNDS GOOD...GOES WELL...LASTS AS LONG AS A FRUIT PASTLE.....ALSO IF THESE TUSCANS ARE SO RELIABLE WHY THE CLOSED E-GROUPS?? ARE THEY DISCUSSING STUFF THEY WOULD RATHER NOBODY ELSE KNEW ABOUT?IT ALL SOUNDS A BIT SUSPECT IF YOU ASK ME
.AS FOR CHEAP TUSCANS DID ANYONE SEE THE £25K ONE FOR SALE IN THE SUNDAY TIMES LAST WEEK...I PLAN TO BUY ONE NEXT YEAR AS A SECOND CAR,PRICES MIGHT BE DOWN TO £10K BUY THEN AND I CAN PAY TO HAVE A PROPER ENGINE FITTED(AJP V8)
