Oil Light Problem
Discussion
Hi - hopefully this is just a loose connection, but I'll explain the problem...
Whenever I floor the accelerator and the revs pick up, the oil light comes on (after about 4000 revs) and won't go off until I ease off the throttle. It also seems to come on briefly when I've accelerated hard and just removed my foot form the peddle. The oil level on the dip stick is about half way between MIN and MAX and the pressure when hot is between 24 and 34 psi. I tried to watch the oil pressure as I accelerated, but of the two times I tried it, the first time the pressure stayed at 30, the second time it dropped to 24. I'm not convinced though that the digital readout responds instantly to the change in pressure (judging by the way the temperature and fuel readouts seem to flicker backwards and forwards at will!).
Apparently it's quite a big (ie expensive) job to get to the oil pressure sensor and as my warranty doesn't cover "adjustments" it's going to cost a lot if it is just a loose connection or a bad earth or something. I would be interested to hear if anyone else has had this problem or any advice that people can offer.

The oil prasure sensor is reasonably easy to get to it is on the right side of the engine bay just under the airbox at the front in line with the alternator. If it were a loose connection the reading will shoot up to 99psi. On that basis it may be worth looking into as it could be a more serious problem if the car is new I'm sure the dealer could investigate.
